WATERFRONT ESPLANADE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT--CIVIC DISTRICT MAY 13-JULY 31

This project will construct the final phase of the Waterfront Esplanade Improvement Project in the Civic District. The Waterfront Esplanade Improvement Project was initiated to provide public access to and along the shoreline as well as an open area or plaza for public gatherings, concerts and other outdoor events. Work completed to date on this project is adjacent to the shoreline between Quincy Street and Madison Street and includes a new seawall, sidewalks, plaza area, shoreline protection and new steel pilings under the Wave Viewing Gallery. The final phase will provide for the reconstruction of the Quincy Street turn around, a seawall at the end of Quincy Street, A.D.A. accessible sidewalks, a brick and grass plaza, a paved parking area, rain gardens, lighted bollards and a rebuilt access road between the parking lot and Quincy Street.
HBHansen Construction of Lynden Washington was awarded the bid for the construction of the final phase and they plan to mobilize the week of May 13, 2013. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of July.
