Main Street thanks Puget Sound Energy for its contribution of $5000 to the Meet Me in Port Townsend marketing campaign to help promote Port Townsend businesses during the Hood Canal Bridge closure.

“MEET ME IN PORT TOWNSEND”
2009 Marketing Opportunity
Main Street is partnering with the Washington State Tourism Commission to offer our community this valuable marketing opportunity.
The “Meet Me in Port Townsend” campaign promotes our city as a destination to visitors and our local residents. It is designed to bring business to Port Townsend and the historic districts, leading up to and following the 6-week closure of the Hood Canal Bridge scheduled for May/June 2009.
It includes:
• Regional and local print and online advertisements will connect customers to a website richly illustrated with photographs and video clips of local business owners.
• Campaign includes print and online ads in Victoria, Whidbey Island, Olympia and Peninsula media.
• A radio campaign will tie up the package for the bridge re-opening, inviting Seattle/I-5 corridor visitors back in time to enjoy summer in Port Townsend.
• Press releases, special events and website promotion round out this comprehensive campaign.
Main Street applied for a Washington State Tourism Commission Grant for the “Meet Me in Port Townsend” Campaign and was awarded this grant to help “offset the negative impact of the Hood Canal Bridge closure and to encourage business owners to be more competitive in the marketplace,” and “to promote Washington as a premier travel destination.” The grant requires $15,000 in matching funds which we are seeking from participating businesses and corporate sponsorship. The campaign will be coordinated by our local Main Street Program Promotion Committee, which has received numerous awards for its past promotions.
